Wheel Factoids:
360 degrees in a circle.
When rotated on its own axis over time gives rpm(revolutions per minute)
In engineering, rpm is not used.. but what is used, is 180 degrees over
pi(3.14) per second
It is called a "radian" or rad for short
This gives approx 57 degrees.
Four 90 degree quadrants in a circle
90 minus 57=33
Bighorn Medicine Wheel lines up the summer solstice at 57(or 33) degrees.. the
only latitude on earth that can do that.
Bighorn Medicine Wheel also sits 70 miles away from the largest volcano on
earth in Yellowstone Park.
70 miles=69.444 minutes of Arc on the earth's surface... like in ship
navigation they use Nautical miles..
60 Nautical miles=One degree of Arc on the earths surface
One over 69.444(1/69.444)=144 in a harmonic base 10 number system.
144,000 is the maximum value for the speed of light in that harmonic system.
33 "levels" in Freemasonry too
And lastly: There are 33 vertebrae in the human back...
"Located at an elevation of 9,642 feet, the area surrounding the Medicine
Wheel contains various alignments of rocks, tipi rings, caves and travois
trails (parallel pairs of ruts in the ground caused by poles dragged by animals
to carry freight). Archeological evidence indicates that the area has been used
by Indian tribes for over 7,000 years. Last year, members of 70
tribes held ceremonies at this site. The Mountain is particularly sacred to
Plains Indian tribes, including the Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Lakota, Dakota,
Shoshone, Cree, Salish, Kootenai and Blackfeet, among others."

I put this page together in 1999 or so. Been a
while...
The Bighorn Medicine Wheel is located in Wyoming in the Bighorn mountain
range on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Bighorn Basin. I had a chance to
visit it in July of 1995. It is quite a remarkable place to visit. When I was
there I ran into a severe blizzard and there was still quite a lot of snow on
the ground in places from the previous winter - in July!
Like others, I thought that it in some way it may be some kind of
astronomical observatory and thought along those lines when I was investigating
it. Before I went there, I had a chance to look at it from an astronomical
program and found some very interesting things about the location of the wheel.
This is what I have
Discovered:
July 20th 1995 standing at the center of the
wheel and looking east at dawn you would see the following image.

The star Mintaka is dead on at 90 degrees on the East Horizon - (Hor I
Son--Horus Rising).
Mintaka corresponds to the smallest of the three
Giza Pyramids known as the Pyramid of Menkaure.
Above it, at 35 degrees perpendicular to the horizon is the
Pleiades star cluster.
Below Mintaka, is the star Sirius at 25 degrees
perpendicular to the horizon.
The Latitude placement of the Wheel on the Earth makes a 90 degree cross that
sits perpendicular, or, 90 degrees with the Horizon with Mintaka as the fulcrum or, center.
When I was there, Mercury and Venus were in conjunction with Wasat.
If you follow the horizon
to the left (North), you will see the star Wasat
as the heart star of one of the twins in the constellation Gemini. It is 35
degrees North of East on the horizon.
This alignment is most interesting when we consider that Orion, Sirius, and the Pleiades all have a connection to
myth in many of the worlds cultures.
But what is the connection to the star Wasat, or the constellation Gemini?
The Bighorn Medicine Wheel lines these up at 90 degrees on the horizon. At
Dawn.
The main spoke of the wheel is 57 degrees
West of South.
This spoke points to a trail that leads down the canyon.
This spoke points to a hole in the ground that must consume a lot of run-off
water in the spring thaw.
This spoke points across the wheel in the direction of the rising sun on the
summer solstice.
On July 11, 1991 at
Mexico City (19.5 North), a total solar eclipse darkened the city while many
people video taped the event. Later on, it was discovered that at least 6 video
tapes had captured a hovering silver disk during the eclipse. From this point
on, literally hundreds of video tapes of these objects have been filmed in the
skies around Mexico City.

On this date in Mexico, the Sun and moon are in
conjunction with the star Wasat in the constellation Gemini.
In the next few pages I will attempt to uncover some of the code hidden into
the wheel as it pertains to myth, starmaps, the global grid, and the
significance of it today.
First let us take a closer look at the
wheel.
 |
I considered the fact that at least a handful of cultures have known and
tracked the precessional cycle of time, a period of around 2600 years. The
zodiac is based on this idea where each "sign" lasts approximately.
2160 years. I then applied it to this picture of the wheel. The image was taken
at an angle so I have skewed the image slightly to correct for this.
Also, notice that the zodiac is backwards. Precession of the planet moves us
through the zodiac backwards over a 26 thousand year cycle.
|
I laid the zodiac wheel down on top of the Bighorn wheel and
rotated it so that that the four corners corresponded to the four directions.
Leo - North; Taurus - East; Aquarius - South; and
Scorpio - West.
This is one meaning that can be generally accepted to be the meaning
of the symbology behind the Shpinx in Egypt. The combination of a Lion, Man,
Bull, and an Eagle (Scorpio). If we take the Hermetic philosophy further and
recall "As above, so below", and apply it the the Bighorn wheel, an
accurate Constellational map of the heavens is laid out at the moment of
Sunrise (Dawn).

Let us turn our attention back to the
zodiac over the wheel.
 |
Note that the top of the pentagram is the sign Libra, the scales, or
what is known as a balance. It is the only sign of the zodiac that is not an
animal or a human. Which makes it unique in it's own right.
The scales or balance is associated with...
The Judgment
|
The sign for Libra is associated with the rising sun . It is a semi-circle (the sun) with a line under it that
represents the horizon (Hor I Son--Horus Rising). It is also very similar to
the Greek letter omega, which means "The End". In astrology, Libra is
represented by a pair of scales or what can be called a "Balance".
|
 |
The scales, or "balance" is also very connected to the beginning
of Egyptian Mythology. When a person died, they were lead to the "Hall of
Maat" where their heart (conscience) is
weighed against the feather of Maat (truth and
justice). |
The Egyptian believed the heart was the center of all
consciousness, even the center of life itself. When someone died it was said
that their "heart has departed." It was the only organ that was not
removed from the body during mummification. In the Book of the dead, it was the
heart that was weighed against the feather of Maat to see if an individual was
worthy of joining Osiris in the afterlife
In the "Hall of Maat", Anubis appears on behalf of the diseased. It
was Anubis who saw that the beam of the great scale was in the proper position
as he supervises the weighing of the heart of a deceased person against the
feather of Maat.
Now, if we look even deeper into the meaning of the heart and feather, some
interesting facts emerge. The heart IS the gateway to the universe. See
www.danwinter.com. But what about the
feather? And why the feather?
Maat (truth). In Egyptian mythology, goddess of truth, daughter of the sun god
Ra. Her name is represented by an ostrich feather. Her presence is indicated in
"The Weighing of the Heart" in The Book of the Dead in which
the feather of truth is usually found over the balance scales and also appears
as the weight against which the heart is weighed. Egyptian judges in Ptolemaic and Roman periods were often
portrayed wearing an amulet of Maat around a cord on their necks as emblems of
their office. One text describes the goddess: "Great is Maat, the
mighty and unalterable."
The feather from an Ostrich, it is a twin feather. It has two feathers coming
out of one quill.
Today we are all aware that the symbol for Law and the courts (where all the
"judges" hang out) is a balance. Think about it, law and order has
always been associated with the scales. But in ancient times, the scales were
also associated with "The Harvest". The
end of the growing season, and time to "reap" the eternal bounty of
the land.
In a spiritual tone, the harvest represents the harvest
of souls into the kingdom of God. This happens to be what Christians
call "Judgement Day".
There is another symbol for Maat. It is a horizontal bar with the left end cut
in a wedge shape. Deities are often seen standing on this symbol, as if
standing on a foundation of Maat.
